Little Blog: We love the idea of covering the whole Motorola Razr phone in Swarovski crystals. The lines of the phone are so sleek, the custom designed cellphone work comes out really nice.

Do you know how cellphone signals travel through the air?

Did you know that while you are yakking on your cellphone, a tiny microphone in the handset converts the high and low sounds of your voice into a corresponding high and low pattern of electrical signals.

A microchip inside the phone converts these signals into strings of numbers. The numbers are packed into a radio wave and beamed out from the phone’s antenna. The radio waves travel through the air at the blazing speed of light. It searches for the nearest cellphone tower. The cellphone tower, also called a "mast", receives the signals.

The tower passes the signals on to an "exchange building", from where they are routed onward. Calls made from a cellphone to another cellphone on the same network travel to their destination by being routed to the mast nearest to the destination phone, and finally to that phone itself.

Calls made to a cellphone on a different network or a landline follow a more lengthy path. They have to be routed into the main telephone network before they can reach their ultimate destination. Who'd a thunk it?

July 2008 - Nokia and Verizon Wireless have joined dark forces and have released the Nokia 6205 - Dark Knight Limited Edition cellphone. The phone itself isn’t as flashy as the latest units available in the market today, but it does come loaded with a trailer and the movie logo at the back. Loyal Batman fans might be enticed to get one as a collector’s item. It does come with a 1.3-megpaixel camera, external music controls on the cover, and 58MB internal memory. The promotional packaging is quite a treat as well with loads of goodies fan boys will surely appreciate. We think this is the first time a cellphone was attached as a promotional item to a Hollywood film.

July 2008 - The famous crystal chandeliers of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City are getting a complete makeover this summer? The Swarovski crystal company has donated the funds for the labor as well as 49,000 pieces of Swarovski crystal for the makeover of the famous "sputnik" chandeliers of the Opera House. The cost is over $1 million. (The original chandeliers were a gift to Lincoln Center from the Austrian government.) The chandeliers have now been removed from the building and newly refurbished and sparkling with new brilliance, will rise to the ceiling again for the Met's opening night performance in September 2008.

July 2008 - London - Did you know the Italian designer Roberto Cavalli is famous for more than just his Cavalli Sunglasses, he is also famous in the fashion world for owning a pet tiger! In London last week he was celebrated at a lecture he gave with Colin McDowell by models dressed in head-to-toe leopard print at the Oxford Union, and mobbed by celebs at the launch party for his very own wine. Sprinking Swarovski crystal leopard print fabrics are simply not enough for this flambouyant designer!
