Love those crystals!

Little Blog: Square Crystals. In addition to the round, oval, diamond cut and pendants, Swarovski also manufactures a small and limited line of square cut crystals. Some of these are pure square stones while others are rectangular, like the emerald cut when referring to traditional jewelry cuts.

One would use the square or emerald cut crystals when creating strict linear designs that are measured well to accept the confines of the layering of square edges. There are various techniques for laying crystals; with round stones, the designer can create more fluid lines. Using matching color paint as a base, the layout artist can create a non-exact pattern to create a seemingly flawless design.

The square cuts are somewhat less forgiving as the pattern itself requires uniformity to create if final allure.

Do you know how cellphone signals travel through the air?
With all of the wireless devices modern society uses, can you imagine if you could actually "see" the signals crashing through the air? What a tangled web it would weave! Some painter could have a field day imagining what the visible wireless would look like.	We do wonder sometimes how all of these wireless signals seem to exist peacefully with each other. Does the signal for the wireless router for the internet have to say "Excuse me" to the wireless signal we use for our company's ipod speaker systerm. Just wondering here. But it would funny to see if it were true.

July 2008 - Nokia and Verizon Wireless have joined dark forces and have released the Nokia 6205 - Dark Knight Limited Edition cellphone. The phone itself isn’t as flashy as the latest units available in the market today, but it does come loaded with a trailer and the movie logo at the back. Loyal Batman fans might be enticed to get one as a collector’s item. It does come with a 1.3-megpaixel camera, external music controls on the cover, and 58MB internal memory. The promotional packaging is quite a treat as well with loads of goodies fan boys will surely appreciate. We think this is the first time a cellphone was attached as a promotional item to a Hollywood film.

July 2008 - The famous crystal chandeliers of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City are getting a complete makeover this summer? The Swarovski crystal company has donated the funds for the labor as well as 49,000 pieces of Swarovski crystal for the makeover of the famous "sputnik" chandeliers of the Opera House. The cost is over $1 million. (The original chandeliers were a gift to Lincoln Center from the Austrian government.) The chandeliers have now been removed from the building and newly refurbished and sparkling with new brilliance, will rise to the ceiling again for the Met's opening night performance in September 2008.

July 2008 - London - Did you know the Italian designer Roberto Cavalli is famous for more than just his Cavalli Sunglasses, he is also famous in the fashion world for owning a pet tiger! In London last week he was celebrated at a lecture he gave with Colin McDowell by models dressed in head-to-toe leopard print at the Oxford Union, and mobbed by celebs at the launch party for his very own wine. Sprinking Swarovski crystal leopard print fabrics are simply not enough for this flambouyant designer!
